This almost life-sized portrait of my two beautiful Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Frankie and Finley, was an absolute joy to paint. Measuring a substantial 36 x 28 inches, it’s my largest piece to date—and one of the most special.

The boys were around six years old when I captured them perched on their favourite chair, both gazing intently at me with that unmistakable spaniel sweetness. Though they’re brothers from the same litter, their personalities are wonderfully distinct, and it was important to me that this painting reflected that—gentle Frankie with his calm, soulful eyes, and cheeky Finley always ready for mischief.

I’ve included a photo showing the painting beside the boys in real life to give a true sense of scale. Framed in a gorgeous surround to match the elegance of the composition, this portrait now hangs in our entrance hall—pride of place and the first thing you see when you step inside. A daily reminder of the love and companionship they bring into our lives, and a piece I’ll cherish forever.
