Staedtler Mars Eraser (Typist Erasers)

These are the typist erasers I use exclusively during my underpainting stages. They’re excellent for fine detail work because they can be sharpened to a precise point — perfect for lifting small highlights or tidying edges.
I use them alongside a putty eraser to remove oil paint when working in my dry-brush underpainting method. Most people don’t realise that you can erase oils, but when you work dry as I do, it’s quite straightforward — you simply lift lights and reapply darks as needed.
Always remember to gently brush away any eraser dust before continuing, as it can dry into the paint if left on the surface.
