I painted Emerald Leap using my underpainting approach, beginning with a warm red base to complement and energise the green tones that follow. I worked first in transparent burnt sienna, followed by raw umber, building the structure and tonal foundation before allowing the colour layers to emerge.
What I loved most about this piece was the freedom in the brushwork. I deliberately kept it loose, letting the greens and reds layer over one another rather than over-controlling the surface. The contrast between those colours brought the painting to life and kept the process playful and instinctive.
This piece brought me a great deal of joy to paint. It felt light, fun, and full of energy, and I allowed myself to enjoy the movement and colour rather than restrain it. I hope that same sense of brightness and enjoyment carries through to whoever lives with this painting, something uplifting to return to, again and again.
This piece is presented in a black wooden float frame and is fully strung, ready to hang. It comes with a signed Certificate of Authenticity attached to the back of the painting, along with a second certificate presented in a protective decorative folder. This is a one-of-a-kind original, and no prints will be made of this piece.
