The Cleansing Ritual is a quiet moment built slowly in layers, a painting where time seems to slow, much like the act it portrays. I was inspired by the calm poise found in the Dutch masters, especially Vermeer, and wanted to echo that sense of stillness through controlled light, gentle colour transitions, and a soft, classical atmosphere.
 
I began with a traditional underpainting to establish the structure and values before adding the colour in measured layers. The process took several weeks, allowing each stage to settle before the next. Her hands and the soft fall of light across the figure were my favourite parts to refine, subtle, deliberate, and full of that quiet domestic grace I wanted to capture.
 
The canvas is framed in a soft grey wood and is ready to hang. It’s finished with a satin varnish and comes with a signed Certificate of Authenticity. No prints will be made, making The Cleansing Ritual an exclusive collector’s piece.
