How To Order

Whether you're just starting to explore a commission or you're interested in a custom piece with a detailed background, I'd love to hear from you.

To begin, read through this page and then simply click the button above to fill in the contact form — or feel free to email me directly at marion@mazartstudio.com if that's easier.

There’s no obligation to commit by getting in touch—this is just the first step to discussing your ideas, asking questions, and seeing if a custom portrait is the right fit for you.

Exploring Options

Start by reviewing the details on my Pricing Page.  Decide on the portrait size, how many subjects you’d like included, and whether you prefer a soft, painterly background or something more detailed. Before moving forward, please also take a moment to read through my  Commission Terms and Conditions below.   They offer a clear, simple overview of the full process, so you’ll know exactly what to expect.

Get in Touch & Share Your Vision

To move forward, simply fill out my [contact form] or email me directly at marion@mazartstudio.com. Here’s what I’ll need from you: Timeline: If you have a special date in mind—whether it’s a birthday, anniversary, or other occasion—please let me know. I’ll confirm whether I can meet your deadline based on current availability. Photos & Vision: Send over your chosen reference photo(s). If you have a particular vision for the portrait—such as a certain expression, mood, or arrangement—do share it with me. If not, feel free to send a few photos and I’ll design a composition that I believe will work best., I will often include a digital mockup once I have received your deposit. Need help deciding? I’m always happy to assist. Just email your favourite photo options and we’ll choose the best reference together. Size: Let me know what size you have in mind for your painting. If you’re unsure, I can guide you based on the number of subjects, style, and display space. Background: For simple painterly backgrounds, you’re welcome to request specific colour tones, or I’ll select ones that complement your subject. If you’d like something more detailed—like an outdoor scene or a cosy home setting—I can either use the original photo’s background or create something custom for you. Once we’ve confirmed your timeline, chosen the reference photo(s), settled on the size and background, and answered any remaining questions, you’ll be ready to place your order. I’ll also give you an estimated completion date. Please note: because oil paint requires time to dry properly, all timeframes are approximate unless we’ve agreed on a firm deadline.

Choose Your Favourite Photos

Now it’s time to gather your favourite photos of your pet (or person). Every portrait is hand-painted from the reference images you provide. While clear, high-quality photos are ideal for capturing those unique features, phone photos are usually perfectly fine—especially when taken at eye level, in natural lighting or outdoors. If you have several photos, I can combine elements from different images for single or multi-subject portraits. Not sure which to choose? I’m always happy to help you select the best options for your painting. Note: I can work around small issues like glare, slight blur, or removing collars and harnesses. However, photos that are very dark or extremely out of focus may not be suitable. Extra photos are always welcome to help me capture your pet’s personality as accurately as possible.

Place Your Order & Secure Your Spot

To officially reserve your painting on my schedule, a 25% deposit is required. I’ll send you a personalised invoice when you're ready to proceed and will often send a digital mockup once I have received your deposit and agreed our ideas. Payment can be made securely via , PayPal, or BACS bank transfer. The invoice I provide will also have all the payment details to hand for you. (see terms & conditions below) The remaining balance will be due once you’ve approved the final scanned image of your painting and before it is shipped. Please note: Paintings will not be shipped until the full balance has been received.

What to Expect After Placing Your Order

Once you've placed your order, you'll receive a confirmation email within 48 hours to confirm that your painting has been added to my schedule.

While many clients prefer to wait for the final reveal, you're very welcome to request progress photos if you'd like to see how your painting is developing layer by layer.

I’ll be in touch when your painting begins, and again once it’s complete. At that point, I’ll send you clear photos—and sometimes a video—of the finished piece for your approval. Minor tweaks are always complimentary to ensure you’re completely happy. (For details on more significant changes, please refer to my Terms and Conditions.)

Once approved, your painting will need around 10–14 days to dry. After that, I’ll apply a protective varnish and arrange fully insured shipping. Smaller to mid-sized pieces are typically sent via Royal Mail Tracked, while larger artworks may ship via UPS or another reliable courier. I’ll provide tracking details as soon as it’s on its way to you.

AUTHENTICITY AND PRESENTATION

Each Commissioned Artwork will be accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity, beautifully presented in a protective folder for you to keep. A second certificate will be affixed to the back of the painting, along with a stamped authentication mark. These elements serve as assurance of the genuine nature and originality of your artwork, providing both provenance and peace of mind.
